Consultancy and Training

Youssef has been working as a consultant to media organisations across the Middle East and Africa since 2005. He has trained more than 500 media professionals from private and governmental media organisations in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia. This has enabled him to build a vast network of professional relations across broadcast, print, and online media.

Youssef's consultancy and training programmes are tailored to meet specific needs. Youssef conducts training courses mostly in Arabic and bilingual trainers in English and French are used.

Training

Youssef designs bespoke training programmes in participation with print, broadcast and online media organisations. His training empowers journalists to develop critical and creative thinking about their work, their audiences and their organisations. Training results in a positive and measurable impact on the quality of news writing, clarity of news values, newsroom organisation and communication.

Youssef's print training style is practical and participatory. He uses practical examples, role- play, text analysis, SWOT and PEST analysis, international and regional comparative exercises as well as study modules. After the programme is over, participants comment on the quality and benefits of the course, helping to evaluate the work. Additionally, Youssef conducts surveys to measure the impact of training on the output of media outlets. To ensure sustainability, Youssef provides a "Training the Trainers" programme -- he identifies key staff in the organisation whom he trains to conduct training in the future.
